With nearly 2,000 ForwardRVA PPE toolkits distributed to businesses and organizations from New Kent to Powhatan, Hanover to Hopewell, and all communities in between, RVA remains poised for a continued safe reopening period. Thank you to the volunteers who worked tirelessly to assemble, organize, and distribute these essential toolkits. And, most importantly, to the salons and auto mechanics, the yoga instructors and restaurateurs, the clothing stores, breweries, realtors, and faith leaders — to all businesses and organizations that call RVA home and have committed themselves to a safe and effective reopening and recovery: Thank you!

The PPE toolkit is just the beginning of our assistance. Here’s who we are.
ForwardRVA is a coalition of our region’s business, community, and governmental leaders who are working together to create an innovative reopening and planning framework.
COVID-19 will have an extraordinary and lasting impact on our region’s economy, affordable housing demands, education system, food security, and the mental and physical health of our residents. Resources will be stretched, and expectations of governments, nonprofits, and businesses will change. We have a duty to learn and acknowledge what is happening in front of our eyes and harness the power of change for the good of everyone in our community.
While we do not have all of the answers today, we know that through more inclusive collaboration and cooperation, we can orchestrate a more successful reopening and begin the process of building a better tomorrow.
Advancing Together
Once we’re past the reopening period, we will ask everyone to participate in a region-wide conversation about what kind of community we want to build and what it will take to achieve that vision. The could include surveys, webinars, and other ways that we can all share our perspectives on reopening and beyond.
This may include new ways of working together more efficiently and effectively, finding new ways to safeguard lives and livelihoods, and developing more possibilities and pathways for everyone.
What it won’t include is simply returning to our old way of life.
